OpenSea hit with Wells notice from SEC 😲
OpenSea has been issued with a Wells notice by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), as confirmed by CEO and Co-founder Devin Finzer.
This informs OpenSea that the SEC plans to bring enforcement action against them, under the suspicion that OpenSea is facilitating the trading of a security: NFTs.
In anticipation of NFT artists and developers being targeted directly, OpenSea has pledged $5M USD towards the legal fees of any individual issued with a Wells notice.
Magic Eden launch NFT mint aggregator 👀
Magic Eden has launched Mint Terminal, an NFT minting aggregator that collates available NFT mints and makes them available in one place.
The free-to-use Mint Terminal currently supports Ethereum, Polygon and Base - and if successful, is expected to expand to support other blockchains.
Reactions have been mixed, with individuals such as @waleswoosh concerned that this could lead to a flood of low-quality NFTs, akin to the current spread of low-quality memecoins due to sites such as pump.fun.
Trump’s 4th NFT set sees mixed reactions 🟡
Donald Trump has launched a fourth set of digital trading cards, with 50 new Polygon-based NFTs available at the price of $99 USD each.
Titled the ‘America First’ collection, the NFTs depict Trump in a variety of intriguing situations and costumes, with a portion of the fabric from Trump’s June 27 Presidential Debate suit available to high-volume buyers.
Influencer @notthreadguy purchased $25,000 USD of these cards, expecting a guaranteed dinner and cocktail party with Trump - only to discovered he’d purchased a “10% chance” of securing the trip.
